Located in downtown Santa Barbara, SBCAST, the Santa Barbara Center for Art, Science and Technology, is a dynamic live and work community designed to support artists, scientists, and technologists. The mixed use development combines creative workspaces and residences within a modern industrial setting that reflects the innovative work taking place inside.

Weathered corten steel, white stucco, black framed windows, and flat rooflines give the buildings a bold, contemporary character. A translucent glass and steel pedestrian bridge connects two sections of the complex, while projecting windows and small balconies add dimension to the exterior. Permeable courtyard pavers, drought tolerant landscaping, bicycle parking, and colorful evening lighting complete the creative campus environment.

Serving as the trusted general contractor, we coordinated the construction of SBCAST from site preparation through final finishes. Careful coordination helped bring together the project’s industrial materials, modern building systems, residential spaces, and creative facilities. The completed development provides a distinctive home for Santa Barbara’s arts and technology community while contributing new energy to the downtown neighborhood.
