Construction Superintendent, Luxury Hotel Projects

About the Opportunity

Young Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for the renovation of a luxury hotel project in Santa Barbara. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day construction activities, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, maintain project schedules, and ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, craftsmanship, and guest-focused execution. This role is ideal for a hands-on construction professional with extensive experience delivering upscale or luxury hospitality projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise daily field construction activities from mobilization through completion.

• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and project personnel.

• Manage construction sequencing, site logistics, manpower, and daily work plans.

• Monitor project progress against the approved schedule and identify potential delays.

• Enforce site safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality control, and finish installation.

• Coordinate work involving guestrooms, suites, restaurants, meeting spaces, lobbies, spas, pools, back-of-house areas, and other hotel facilities.

• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and details for constructability and coordination issues.

• Conduct daily site walks, inspections, coordination meetings, and progress reviews.

• Track deficiencies, punch list items, inspections, testing, and closeout activities.

• Communicate project status, risks, schedule concerns, and field issues to the Project Manager and ownership team.

• Work closely with architects, engineers, interior designers, hotel representatives, and specialty consultants.

• Help maintain a clean, organized, secure, and professional job site.

• Support commissioning, turnover, staff training, and final project completion.

Required Qualifications

• Ten (10) or more years of construction supervision experience.

• Demonstrated experience as a Superintendent on luxury hotel, resort, hospitality, or high-end commercial projects.

• Strong knowledge of hospitality construction methods, sequencing, and finishing standards.

• Experience managing complex projects with multiple subcontractors and specialty trades.

• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and interior design drawings.

• Strong understanding of project scheduling, quality control, safety, and site logistics.

• Excellent communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Word.

• OSHA 30-hour or applicable certification preferred.

• Ability to work on-site and accommodate project-specific schedules, including occasional evenings or weekends.

Preferred Experience

• Luxury or five-star hotel construction.

• Hotel renovations in occupied or partially occupied properties.

• Historic restoration.

• High-end guestroom and suite interiors.

• Restaurant, spa, ballroom, pool, and resort amenity construction.

• Complex MEP coordination and building systems integration.

• LEED, WELL, sustainability, or other hospitality-related certifications.

• Experience working with international brands, owners, or hotel operators.
