Chumash Staircase

At Chumash Casino Resort, this new staircase gives guests a grand way up to the upper restaurant level. A sweeping curved run with clear glass panels, a satin gold cap rail, and a black lower handrail leads down into a circular floor inlaid with a cream, black, and rust toned mosaic tile medallion, while a cluster of crystal beaded, feather shaped light fixtures hangs overhead at staggered heights. Behind the stairs, a large digital wall rotates through desert landscapes, abstract sunburst patterns, and blooming flowers, giving the space a different look throughout the day.

The staircase sits alongside a bank of escalators, tying the new entrance into the casino's existing circulation without feeling like an afterthought. The treads carry a gold metallic diamond mesh runner with under lit stone edges rather than carpet, and the tall fluted wall behind the display is fabric wrapped paneling in cream and champagne tones with brass reveals, taking on a soft blush cast from the glow of the video wall.

We built this staircase as part of a broader upgrade to the casino's upper level, coordinating structural work, finishes, and the technology behind the digital art wall. The result is an entrance that matches the scale of the resort while making the walk up to dinner part of the experience.
