Tucked a few blocks from Santa Barbara's beach, harbor, and the Funk Zone, Hideaway Santa Barbara is a boutique hotel with the easy charm of a Craftsman beach cottage. Dark navy lap siding, fish-scale shingle gable ends, and crisp white trim give the two-story building a warm, residential feel, with cross-gabled rooflines, decorative knee-brace brackets, a hip-roofed dormer, and a red brick chimney adding classic Craftsman character. A white picket fence, brick walkways, and lush plantings of cycads and bromeliads soften the entrance, and string lights along the entry stairs set a relaxed, coastal mood after dark.
Inside, the coastal-cottage look continues with a shiplap-ceiling lobby, exposed wood beams, a black globe chandelier, and a custom slatted reception desk. Guest suites carry navy-and-white textiles, tufted headboards, and private balconies, and a light-filled solarium with checkerboard tile floors, marble café tables, and woven bistro chairs gives guests a spot to gather over coffee or a drink.
We handled the renovation of Hideaway Santa Barbara, from exterior upgrades and landscaping to the finish work throughout the guest rooms, lobby, and common areas. As a general contractor experienced in boutique hotel and hospitality renovation, we focused on details that would hold up to daily guest turnover. The result is a small hotel that feels distinctly local while meeting the everyday demands of a busy, guest-focused property.
